Election Sign Regulations

To avoid any bylaw infractions or election offences under the Local Government Act, it is important for candidates to familiarize themselves with regulations respecting election signs.

Two documents worth candidates’ scrutiny are the District’s Sign Bylaw regulations for election signs within the District’s jurisdiction and the Province’s policy regarding the posting of election signs on provincial highway rights-of-way:

Pursuant to section 163 of the Local Government Act, a person must not display or post election advertising within 100 metres of a building where voting proceedings are being conducted at the time.

Please see the map below illustrating the boundaries of the 100 metre restriction that parties must respect on voting days.
