Proclamation for Purple Day (Epilepsy Awareness)

In honour of Epilepsy Awareness Month, Mayor Peter Jones has signed a proclamation recognizing Purple Day on Thursday, March 26, 2026. We encourage residents to learn about epilepsy, raise awareness, and support those living with the condition.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder of the central nervous system (the brain) and is characterized by recurrent seizures. It is estimated that approximately 260,000 Canadians live with epilepsy.

How can you show your support? 💜

  • Wear purple on March 26!
  • Sign up for a seizure first aid course
  • Support friends, family and neighbours living with epilepsy
