Changes to Council Agenda Timelines Now in Effect
The District of North Saanich Council Procedure Bylaw outlines the regulations and procedures for Council Meetings. Council adopted a new Council Procedure Bylaw last night, which includes changes to council agenda deadlines.
Here’s what the changes look like and how they will affect future meetings:
🔹 Agendas will now be published on Tuesdays (instead of Thursdays)
🔹 The deadline for the public to submit agenda items will now be 12 pm on the Monday prior to a Council meeting (instead of 12 pm on the Wednesday prior). This allows members of Council a full week to review the agenda
🔹 The deadline for written requests to appear before Council will now be 12 pm on the Monday prior (instead of 12 pm on the Wednesday prior)
🔹 The deadline to submit a notice of Council motion will now be 12 pm on the Monday prior (instead of 12 pm on the Wednesday prior).
These changes take effect as of December 16 and will support both Council and residents. More time to review the agenda means deeper discussion and more informed decision-making!
