Council approves 2026-2030 Financial Plan
North Saanich, BC – North Saanich Council has approved the 2026–2030 Financial Plan, setting a 5.5% municipal property tax increase for 2026, down from the initially proposed 7.54% increase.
The reduction reflects Budget Committee deliberations aimed at balancing the need to maintain core municipal services and infrastructure with a continued focus on affordability for residents.
The Financial Plan outlines how the District will allocate resources to support essential services such as roads, parks, fire protection, and utilities, while continuing to invest in long-term infrastructure and asset management.
“This reduction demonstrates Council’s commitment to carefully reviewing the budget and identifying opportunities to lessen the financial impact on residents, while still maintaining the services our community relies on,” said Mayor Peter Jones.
The 2026 budget builds on extensive public engagement conducted earlier this year, where residents provided input on service levels, priorities, and acceptable taxation levels.
