Help Shape a More Accessible Saanich Peninsula!

We’re looking for North Saanich residents to join the Saanich Peninsula Accessibility Advisory Committee (SPAAC) — a group that helps make our region more inclusive, welcoming, and easier to navigate for people of all ages and abilities. Accessibility touches everything: getting around safely, enjoying our parks, accessing services, attending events, and feeling included in community life. Your lived experience really matters here.

To serve on this committee, you must be:

  • An individual with a disability, or
  • Someone who supports/assists a person with a disability

This ensures the committee is guided by lived experience and real, practical understanding of accessibility challenges. You don’t need to be an expert, just someone who cares, notices barriers, or wants to help create positive change. Many communities across Canada are welcoming first-time committee members, and we want new voices and perspectives too.

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I see things others might miss.”
  • “I want my community to be easier to navigate.”
  • “I’d like to help, but I’ve never served on a committee before…”

…this is the perfect place to start. Your lived experience can make a real difference.

Learn more about the Saanich Peninsula Accessibility Advisory Committee (SPAAC) and submit your Advisory Body of Council application form. Make sure you include an outline of your qualifications and experience and email the form to the Director of Corporate Services at commissions@northsaanich.ca.

If you have any questions, or need extra assistance, please email commissions@northsaanich.ca or phone 250-656-0781.
