OCP update – agenda available for Dec 6 Special Meeting of Council

Council will meet to continue its discussion of the OCP and outstanding staff recommendations at a Special Meeting of Council on Monday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. (one hour earlier than usual).

The meeting agenda has been published at northsaanich.ca/council-meetings

This meeting is a follow-up to the November 22 Council meeting, where North Saanich Council received a presentation by the OCP project team outlining the OCP’s revised Phase 2 Engagement Summary and Policy Directions Report and revised Phase 3 Engagement Plan.

The project team also presented a range of land-use options to demonstrate how different housing types and other land uses could be accommodated within North Saanich, while increasing the amount of lands designated as agricultural and rural residential. (View the staff report, Phase 2 Engagement Summary and Policy Directions Report and revised Phase 3 Engagement Plan, revised draft concepts and land use options.)

On November 22, Council moved to receive the revised Phase 2 Engagement Summary and Policy Directions Report, but the remaining four recommendations were deferred for consideration.

As always, we welcome public participation and input at this meeting by:

  1. Submitting written correspondence pertaining to items on the agenda to corporateservices@northsaanich.ca by noon on Monday, December 6. This correspondence will be considered by Council as a “late item” for inclusion on the agenda.
  2. Attending in-person to speak or watch by pre-registering, by noon on Monday, December 6 via email to corporateservices@northsaanich.ca.  Up to 40 in-person attendees; masks must be worn at all times.
  3. Attending virtually to speak by pre-registering, by noon on Monday, December 6 via email to corporateservices@northsaanich.ca. Each person has 3 minutes to present their perspective.
