Preparing for extreme weather conditions

It is likely that North Saanich will experience extreme weather events, like strong winds and sustained rainfall, more frequently in the future.

As a community, we need to prepare for and help mitigate unpredictable winter weather.

Please be aware that District of North Saanich staff are here to respond to flood-related issues throughout North Saanich.

Residents can report drainage issues and clogged storm drains to Public Works by phone at 250-655-5480 or by email to admin@northsaanich.ca. If you are calling outside of business hours (i.e., before 8:00 a.m. or after 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday), please call the Public Works after-hours line: 250-920-9235.

Whether you are a homeowner or business owner, we recommend you take the time to prepare for severe weather.

Develop an emergency plan, put together an emergency kit, and connect with your neighbours.

One of the best places to start your preparations (or refamiliarize yourself) is with emergency management resources assembled by the Province of BC
