Public Safety

The District of North Saanich is well-served by the public safety organizations in our municipality.

The North Saanich Fire Department is a composite career/volunteer department consisting of 4 career positions and approximately 35 dedicated volunteers operating out of two fire halls.

North Saanich, Sidney and Central Saanich municipalities have joined together to provide public safety alerts to the residents of the peninsula through the Saanich Peninsula Alert system.  The system is designed to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts to residents and stakeholders who have registered.

The District of North Saanich has established an Emergency Planning Committee to oversee the many activities required for effective emergency management.

The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Detachment consists of 31 RCMP officers and 8.5 civilian support staff.  In addition to the General Duty Patrol Section, officers are assigned to Municipal Traffic Services, First Nations Policing and General Investigations.
