2022-2023 Burning Schedule Adjustment

PLEASE NOTE: The Burning Schedule has been updated to reflect there is to be no burning on Friday, April 7, 2023.

The District would like to remind residents that while the burning season opened on November 4, 2022, all fires require a permit.

During the months of the burning season, open-air burning can take place only from sunrise to sunset every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of the first and third weeks.

There is a complete ban in effect in the Dean Park area, west of East Saanich Road, with the exception of outdoor appliances (for cooking or quiet enjoyment). Burning household and yard waste in outdoor appliances is prohibited.

Please burn your fires hot to avoid producing noxious smoke that can be harmful and disturb your neighbours. Burning leaves, wet or green material is strictly prohibited. We recommend you cover your waste with a tarp between burns so it won’t get wet.

Please consider alternatives to burning such as composting, recycling, or chipping. For a fee, you can drop off your material at the Municipal Green Waste Drop-off on Littlewood Road.

For permits or questions, please visit the Fire Hall at 986 Wain Road, or call the Fire Department at 250-656-1931.
