Acknowledgment of Federal Gas Tax Funding

We are grateful to have received $2,375,000 of Federal Gas Tax funding for the Scoter Trail Upgrade and West Saanich Bike Lane infrastructure improvement projects completed in 2020.

Scoter Trail Upgrade

The Scoter Trail upgrade included preservation of the natural shoreline, restoration of the trail, and installation of a pebble beach making the trail walkable at all tides. The improvements also enhance the natural shoreline by allowing logs to wash onto the beach and plants to establish. Benches and a seating area were also installed along the trail.

West Saanich Road Bike Lane Project

The funding for the West Saanich Road Bike Lane project involved the installation of a bike lane from McTavish Road to Frizell Road. This 1.7 km section of the project provides continuous bike lanes from McTavish Road to Birch Road.
