District of North Saanich Hires New CAO
The District of North Saanich is pleased to announce that Council has appointed Stephanie Munro as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), following a comprehensive recruitment process.
Ms. Munro had been acting as interim CAO since June 2023. As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), she began her career in a mid-size accounting firm in Victoria focusing on non-profit clients. Her career at District of North Saanich began in 2012 in the role of Manager of Financial Services, and she was appointed to the role of Director of Financial Services in early 2017. Ms. Munro also serves as a Director on the Municipal Insurance Association of B.C. board.
“Following a lengthy search and robust competition, Council and I are pleased to welcome Stephanie to the District of North Saanich in the position of CAO on a permanent basis,” said Mayor Peter Jones. “Stephanie brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to the position, and has demonstrated commitment and leadership in the municipality over the past decade. We look forward to Stephanie continuing to work with District staff to support Council’s strategic goals, and helping us promote the District as a wonderful community to live in.”
The District completed an extensive executive recruitment process supported by PFM Executive Search. The role of CAO as the senior-most municipal employee is to report directly to Mayor and Council, to lead municipal staff in all aspects of operations, and to ensure that district strategies and operational goals are achieved.
“I am excited and honored for the opportunity to continue supporting Council’s strategic goals and the day-to-day operations of North Saanich by working collaboratively with our dedicated staff, Council and community members,” said Stephanie Munro. “I am excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, and I am committed to serving our community with dedication, integrity, and passion in my new role as CAO.”
Stephanie was appointed to the position on Nov. 6 during a Special Meeting of Council. Please join Council and the members of staff in welcoming her to this role.
