Greek Independence Day Proclamation

In honor of the Greek Nation’s rich history and cultural heritage, Mayor Peter Jones has signed a proclamation recognizing March 25, 2025, as Greek Independence Day in the District.

With a legacy spanning over four millennia, the Greek Nation has helped shape the progress of humanity in many ways. From the birth of philosophy and drama to the introduction of democracy, and the establishment of a communication bridge between East and West.

This year, the Greek community of Vancouver Island will celebrate the 204th Anniversary of Greek Independence Day, commemorating the historic declaration of freedom on March 25, 1821.

On this special day, we honor and celebrate the Greek Nation and its community, acknowledging their invaluable contributions.
