NOTICE OF NOMINATION – 2023 BY-ELECTION JULY 8, 2023
Public Notice is given to the electors of the District of North Saanich that nominations for the office of Councillor will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person, as follows:
Office of Councillor (1) One to be elected
Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Hall and on the District’s website during regular office hours to the close of the nomination period (June 2, 2023).
Nomination forms must be received at the Municipal Hall between the hours of 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023, and 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, excluding statutory holidays and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day July 8, 2023;
- Canadian citizen;
- resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2023 by-election, the following limits apply during the campaign period June 10, 2023, to July 8, 2023: Office of Councillor: $ 6,750.00
THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2023 by-election, the following third-party advertising limits apply during the campaign period June 10, 2023, to July 8, 2023: Office of Councillor $ 809.84
