Notice of Fuel Treatment in ȽÁU,WELṈEW / John Dean Provincial Park

Over the next several weeks, BC Parks in partnership with the BC Wildfire Service and Iverson Forest Management will be removing and burning accumulations of flammable material (“fuel”) in identified, targeted areas of John Dean park.

Work is estimated to begin January 24 to March 31, 2024. Although specific dates are subject to weather and crew availability, generally work will occur Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Crews will be working in targeted areas along the eastern boundary of the park, along the entrance road and around the upper parking area. Due to the limbing of some trees and other work, including pile burning, periodic and temporary trail closures will be needed for the safety of park users. BC Parks will be posting notification signs at trailheads. Continuous passage on some trails may be blocked. Burning will be compliant with Division 2 of OBSCR (Open Burning under a Community Wildfire Risk Reduction Plan).

Please visit the BC Parks website for more information.
