My name is Jack McClintock and I am in my second term as a councillor for the District of North Saanich, previously being elected in 2014. I have a strong history of public service, serving as a police officer in Vancouver, Victoria, and Central Saanich and as a Conservation Officer in Alberta and Yukon Territory. Although I retired in 2008, my professional experience has provided me with a unique perspective and understanding of the diverse needs of individuals, communities, and businesses. In my role on Council, I continue to apply the same principles that I have developed throughout my professional career to support decision making, underscored by collaboration and compromise, to work in the best interests of the residents of North Saanich.
Stemming from my experience as a conservation officer, I continue to be very passionate about the protection of the natural environment, recognizing the need for balance to support economic growth and sustainability. North Saanich is the place that my wife and I call home and that we have chosen to raise our three wonderful daughters due to the unique rural lifestyle and strong community spirit.
Council work is very much about service and the ability to objectively and actively listen to the concerns of residents about what is important to them. Decisions can be difficult and challenging at times, but I am dedicated to continuing to serve with integrity and to do what is best for the community, based on consensus and achieved through respectful discussion.
It is an honour to continue to serve the residents of North Saanich in the capacity of councillor.
