Special Meeting of Council for OCP Review – Mon, Jan 31

On Monday, January 31 at 7:00 pm, North Saanich Council will discuss the Official Community Plan (OCP) review at a Special Council Meeting.

This is a follow up from the December 6 meeting, at which Council directed the project team to initiate drafting an OCP focused on agriculture and local food systems, marine and natural systems, climate action, healthy communities, and jobs and the local economy, and to plan a public engagement process focused on housing and affordability.

At the January 31 meeting, the project team will report back with an associated work plan, a public engagement plan for housing and affordability, and a revised budget for these tasks, including drafting the plan.

If, at this meeting, Council directs staff to proceed with this work, the project team will then begin drafting the OCP, initiate the engagement plan focused solely on housing and affordability, and then bring back to Council the engagement summary on housing and affordability and a draft OCP (excluding housing and affordability) later in the year.

Due to Omicron, in-person attendance limits at the January 31 meeting are still in place. You can learn more info about the various ways you can participate at this meeting (and at other Council meetings) at: www.northsaanich.ca/council-meetings. You will also find the January 31 Special Meeting of Council agenda, once it has been finalized, at the same link (under “UPCOMING MEETINGS”).
