Speed Limit Changes to Dean Park and Southeast Quadrant Areas

Speed limit changes have been completed in the Dean Park and Southeast Quadrant areas with new and replaced signs installed in April. These changes were guided by the recommendations of a Pedestrian Safety Study for the East Saanich Road corridor and were endorsed by Council earlier this year.

The de facto speed limit throughout this area has been set at 40 km/h. Road sections that were previously signed at 30 km/h, including the school zones, have not been changed. It is hoped this speed limit reduction will encourage vehicle drivers to lower their speeds throughout this area to create a safer right of way for pedestrians, cyclists and all residents of the area.
